R1200GSW seat options
Author Last Post
Well, I decided on making the plunge on a Bill Meyer saddle.  Thanks for all your input.  A very subjective subject are seats indeed.  Always good to hear others experience with this.

Thanks,
Bill
Yep, I'll be there tomorrow.  I ended up with the Russell seats and have been very pleased.  Went with Sunbrella canvas and color matched to the bike.

Bill:

Tom Ptashnik has a GSW and he tried about every aftermarket seat out there. Not sure which one he settled on (maybe Touratech?)  but he might be able to direct you to an aftermarket solution that could be cheaper and faster than a custom.

You can look Tom up in the member directory and shoot him a message or if you come to the club meeting on Saturday at Simply Southern he might be there with his bike to show you the seat he finally decided on.

Bill, I have no direct experience with the work that Cresha and John do at The Mad Stitchers but they have been around a long time with lots of experience and I do know many who have been very happy with their work on cars seats and convertible tops.

Thanks Phil, that would be very helpful.  I think it just needs a little tweeking.

A few years ago I had a place over here in Woodstock make me a seat for my F650 GS Thumper. They make car and boat seats mostly, but will do a bike seat. It was about half what a Mayer seat runs and was a huge improvement over the stock 2x4 seat.
I can look up the name if you're interested. They are over by the Dixie Speedway.

I have a 2014 R1200GSW and the seat is ok for about 2 hours then it gets bad,  I wonder what local members could recommend based on their experience in a seat modifier/customizer that is local to Atlanta to make some modifications to my seat to make it work better.  In the past I have had Russell Daylong seats(just don't like how they look), Bill Mayer (worked pretty good but expensive).  I just would like to avoid shipping the seat off and waiting for it to be returned.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Bill
