CANBUS for aux lights

That was the piece I was missing.  I never thought to look under the rear pillion.  Once I found it, it took about 2 hours to install the lights and test.


The Denali CanSmart is plug and play simple.  The harness plus into the tire pressure module under the rear seat.  Then you run the power and ground wires to the battery.   That's it. You then have four connection circuits that can be modified via software.   

If you are using Denali lights, they plug into each other then a single canal runs to the back of the bike and plugs into the CanSmart.  Which plug and how may amps you configure that plug for is dependent on the lights being installed.  Most can use a 4amp circuit (like the D2's) unless you have larger lights.

How/where did you connect the Denali CANbus harness?  I have my light bar installed but I do not see anywhere to connect the CANbus harness.

I went with the D2’s more to be seen than for night riding.  I have amber spot lenses in both lights.  I’ve been told by others on a group ride that they are annoyingly bright so I know they are doing their job.  😀

How do you like the D2's?  I am thinking about the 2 DR1 TriOptic.  One side the spot and the other side the spot-hybrid.  I do not plan on out  running my lights...too old..slower reflexes...but I was thinking that combination might be a good mix.
I recently switched to the Denali CanSmart to replace my PDM 60 fuse block.  Went with the Denali because I was adding the Denali D2 lights in front and the rear brake light.  These were true plug and play.  The CanSmart also allowed the most configuration of all 4 circuits.  For instance, I put the D2 lights on the 2nd light circuit and repurposed the 10amp 1st light circuit to be the switch to my heated seat.  Next I configured the horn circuit for switched power for heated gear.  For the lights, there are multiple settings and power levels for both front and rear lights.  All in all it met my needs and was very easy to set up on the PC.

Bonus is it cleaned up a lot of wires and added space under the seat.

I am thinking of adding aux lights to 2007 GS.  Yes, I know I am late to the party.  So, I I am thinking the Denali but I read that Denali, Hex EzCan and Clearwater have canbus modules will allow me to control the settings via my INFO button.  Does anyone have experience with Denali lights and one of the noted modules?
